Age 86, of Crafton Heights, on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Barbara (Donehue) Eberle; loving father of Chuck (Mary), Bob (Diane), Bill (Ursula), Wendy Eberle, Tracey (Ray) Harp and John Eberle; grandfather of Chad (Sarah), Brandon (Amanda), Billy (Karen), Vince (Emma), Sean, Joey, Lily, Jamie and Daniel; great-grandfather of Ellis; brother of Betty Porter and the late Donna and Ron Garrard. Hooks was known and loved by many friends and relatives. He grew up on Lakewood St. in Elliott surrounded by his cousins who all looked out for their Bobby. Hooks served with the US Army in Korea and was combat wounded but he never felt like he should talk about his war time experience. After his discharge, Hooks returned to Elliott and began playing baseball, where he earned his nickname. He met the most special person in his life, Barbara Donehue, who became his wife in 1952. Together Bob and Barb raised a family of six children that eventually led to grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Hooks was known for his sense of humor and his kindness and friendship to one and all. Hooks was humble and unassuming to a fault, but he was also known for his teasing and lightheartedness. Late in life Bob got to meet Betty, the sister he never knew and his family grew even bigger. Hooks will be remembered for his wonderful stories, his generosity and his friendship to everyone he touched. Friends received 5-8 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at BRUSCO - NAPIER FUNERAL SERVICE, LTD., 2201 Bensonia Ave., Pgh., PA 15216, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. Interment Private.
